Mar 24, 2011 So Im really sorry to say that I havent been able to blog about Vietnam and my trip to Cambodia. I was so exhausted when we got back to the ship that I couldnt bring myself to write about a long trip that had so many ups and downs. Now that Ive spent 6 days in China, I cant sit down and write out all the details of what seems like years ago. Here are a few highlights: 1. Vietnam is amazing, The people are so kind and helpful, though the language barrier can be tough. We did a boat tour of the Mekong Delta and saw floating markets, a honey factory, and a place where they make local candy. It was an amazing time. 2. The food was great, though sometimes a little funky. Lots of fishy fish. 3. Cambodia has a nightlife scene I never would have expected. A cute little street called Pub Street where all the tourists hang out with $2 drinks. 4. Fish pedicures. You stick your feet into a big tank of water with hundreds of tiny fish inside and they eat all your dead skin. We did this on Pub Street where it was $3 plus a beer. 5. This led to my demise. Yes, I might have puked on the ancient temple of Angkor Wat several times. 6. Angkor Wat is amazing, definitely a must see in this lifetime, look it up. The tree roots that took over when the temple was abandoned are straight out of Laura Croft Tomb Raider literally. The movie was filmed there! 7. My day there was such a mix of highs and lows- the place was amazing but I was incredibly hung-over. I fell asleep on the temple and I woke up to a bunch of Chinese tourists taking pictures of me! 8. South Asia is now somewhere that Im way more interested in traveling to later in life. Its never seemed that interesting to me but I had such a great time there.
