Phene's at Sea 2011

"None of us knows what the next change is going to be, what unexpected opportunity is just around the corner, waiting to change all the tenor of our lives." -Kathleen Norris

1 note

Since getting back on the ship from Brazil it has been all about getting into the routine of school. When we’re at sea, we have classes every day except for the occasional reading day. When we got back, it was so hard to constantly try to answer the question “How was your time in Brazil?” I can’t articulate how I felt when I was in Brazil, and what I end up spitting out does not do my experience any justice. Anyway, classes are good but it’s pretty rough actually having schoolwork to do when I’m so distracted by tanning and having fun. I know, what a complaint. We get to Ghana in 2 days and I’m SO EXCITED! I’m going to Accra with a couple friends to stay with DANA ANNE LEA in her home stay! I’m so pumped, I’ve missed her! I just wish all my other gals could be there too!! Yesterday we had the Sea Olympics. It took me back to cheerleading camp and the super competitive guys were hilarious. Our “sea” got third place overall, which means that we get to get off the ship third in San Diego at the end, we don’t have to wait around all day to debark. It feels so weird thinking about getting off already because we’ve just started! Anyway I did the trivia event, which was fun but I didn’t contribute very much. Made some new friends, ya know the usual. After all the events we got a DELICIOUS BBQ that we all fell on like starving children. It was the first time we’ve had burgers and ice cream that we didn’t have to pay for. What a dream. We thought we (well, our parents) paid for all-inclusive but nothing’s included, right? Haha. I’m starting to worry about that monkey eating half of my ambien, I tried to sleep last night without it and that was a no-go so this might be a lazy napping day. Sorry that this post is really boring because seriously nothing has been going on except for school, but when I’m in Ghana I’m going to try to get to an internet café and upload some pictures! And then when we leave Ghana I’ll definitely have some interesting things to share. In the meantime, everyone email with juicy deets about your life! I’m starving for information here, seeing as I’ve eaten up all my internet minutes and am therefore cut off from the world other than my lifeline of an email account.
